The Enforcement Directorate (ED) officers on Sunday performed search and questioning at Shiv Sena MP Sanjay Raut’s home in Mumbai after he skipped summons twice for questioning in a money-laundering case. The Shiv Sena chief was summoned by the probe company on July 27 after he skipped an earlier summon citing the continuing Parliament session in Delhi.
At 7 am, the probe company staff, accompanied by CISF officers, reached Mr Raut’s house in Bandup in japanese suburbs of Mumbai and started the searches.
The Enforcement Directorate needs to query Mr Raut, 60, in reference to the re-development of a chawl in Mumbai and associated transactions involving his spouse and shut associates. Mr Raut, who’s within the Uddhav Thackeray camp, has denied any wrongdoing and alleged that he’s being focused because of political vendetta.
“…False motion, false proof…I can’t depart Shiv Sena…Even when I die, I can’t give up…I’ve nothing to do with any rip-off. I’m saying this by taking the oath of Shiv Sena chief Balasaheb Thackeray. The BJP hit again on the Sena chief for skipping the summons. “Why is he terrified of Enforcement Directorate if he’s harmless? He has on a regular basis to offer press convention however no time to go to probe company workplace for questioning,” stated BJP MLA Ram Kadam.
The Rajya Sabha MP was questioned for about 10 hours on July 1, throughout which his assertion was recorded beneath the felony sections of the Prevention of Cash Laundering Act.
In April, the Enforcement Directorate hooked up property price over ₹ 11.15 crore of Mr Raut’s spouse Varsha Raut and two of his associates as a part of its probe.
The properties embrace a flat in Dadar held by Varsha Raut and eight plots on the Kihim seaside in Alibaug collectively held by Varsha Raut and Swapna Patkar, the spouse of Sujit Patkar, a “shut affiliate” of Sanjay Raut.
